MANILA, Philippines — The country’s Roman Catholic bishops will consecrate the Philippines to the Divine Mercy on April 27, according to Caloocan Bishop Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
The consecration will take place during all masses across the country on the second Sunday of Easter, which is also called Divine Mercy Sunday.
The Prayer of Consecration to the Divine Mercy will be recited in place of the general intercessions.
According to the CBCP news website, the consecration is part of the Church’s observance of Jubilee Year 2025 as well as a “collective response of faith and hope” amid what he called serious challenges facing the country and the global community. —Jerome Aning
