ADB approves $1.45-B final financing for Malolos-Clark Railway

The 163 kilometer-long North-South Commuter Railway aims to connect New Clark City to Calamba. It will also link Malolos, Bulacan to Metro Manila via the Tutuban-Malolos Railway, and to Clark Freeport Zone and Clark International Airport in Pampanga through the 53.1-kilometer Malolos-Clark Railway.

MANILA, Philippines — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced on Wednesday that it had approved the second and final tranche of financing for the Malolos-Clark Railway Project (MCRP).

The last part of the multi-tranche loan amounted to $1.45 billion. The first part of the financing facility amounting to $1.3 billion was approved by ADB in 2019 and is now fully utilized.

The MCRP is a 53.1-kilometer segment of the 163-km North–South Commuter Railway (NSCR), which will reshape mass transportation in the country using disaster-resilient design and high-technology construction methods.

ADB is also financing the southern leg of the NSCR system––the South Commuter Railway Project.
